Mildred V. Byers, 72, 1608 Fifteenth St., Bedford, formerly of the Springville community, died at 8:15 p.m. Friday at Bedford Medical Center where she entered July 27. She had been ill since March.
Born Nov. 17, 1908, in Boling Green, Ky., she was the daughter of Joshua W. and Blanche E. Dodson Paschal. She was married first to Charles Dewey Poore in 1927 and he died in 1968. She married Bennie Byers in August, 1952, and he preceded her in death in 1976.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Helen Reynolds of Bedford; four sons, Charles M. Poore of Forrest Park, Ill., Herbert E. Poore of Moline, Ill., Richard H. Poore and Raymond F. Poore, both of Potland, Texas: two stepsons, Charles Byers; Lawton, Okla., and Phillip S. Byers of Bedford; one sister, Ada Fullhart and one brother, Pruett Paschal of Bedford; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. Two sons William S. and Robert Poore preceded her in death.
She was a retired employee of Reliance & M. Fine and a member of the Springville Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Richard Chase officiating. Burial will be in Byers Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Sunday.
