Subject: [INMARION] IN birth certificates
Date: Fri, 7 Jan 2000 16:12:59 -0700
My husbands parents are both dead. We sent to IN to get his birth
certificate and what came back was a 1/2 sheet of paper--all typed with ONLY
the name of the parents, the state of their birth, and my husbands name and
birth date. Is this normal for IN? All birth certificates I have seen have
the age of parents, their birth dates, their occupation, hospital where
child was born, etc. In other words, there is usually a lot of genealogy
info on the birth cert. We have sent to both the state of IN as well as the
Marion County Health Dept for a birth certificate. Both places sent the
same sort of birth certificate. Are we asking for the wrong thing? The
County birth certificate did give us a page and volume number as well as a
certificate number. If I call the MCHD and give them that page and volume
number, will they tell me what is on the page? Can anyone tell me how to
go about getting what I am going to call a long form birth certificate (one
that will have all info on it) from either Marion County or the state of IN?
Or does IN only give what I call the short form birth cert.? Any help will
be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Lynda
