debbie,
i found my husbands grandfather in the marion county employees records on
the fire dept at, http://www.in.gov/icpr/archives/databases/indpls_m.html
there are 3 george miller's listed, of them a george E. miller on the fire
dept.
the years of this list is 1890 - 1926.
for my grandfather (inlaw) and his brother, they had thier record showing
when they applied, the results of the application, the year (if before 1926)
of the end of their service and a photo in their fire dept class A's.

i do have to share an ironic story about this infomation for us...the
grandfather was named David B Strode, his brother james a strode. we didn't
know david was a fireman (he died at a VERY young age), the family thought i
just ran across another david strode, until i brought the pictures of david
and james...you see my husband (david a.) and his brother (james r) are both
firemen in marion county now...by holding the pictures side by side you
would think the pictures of the david's were the same person, and the same
with the james'...
