Bloomington (IN) Daily Telephone, April 7, 1924, p. 1

Two Weeks After Disastrous Afternoon

When Office is wiped Out by Fire,

Outfit is Assembled and Running

Temporary Office Located at Bright Building

On South Walnut, and is Efficient

and Fast in Every Way Call And See It.

The Telephone today is printed on its own press a modern semi-rotary outfit built by the Duplex company of Battle Creek, Mich. The press was up and ready to go Saturday, but a freight delay, caused by the Monon wreck at the Wabash river bridge above Lafayette, prevented the paper being printed at home Saturday. This freight shipment, made up of type cases and composing stones, arrived in Bloomington Saturday at midnight and the equipment was immediately placed in position in the temporary office.

Two weeks ago this afternoon, The Telephone building, together with the Gentry block, was completely destroyed by fire. The books and subscription cards were all that was saved from the fire, so it was necessary to assemble a complete new newspaper office. The work of assembling a new outfit was started at 8 oclock on the night of the fire, and was completed only in time to get out todays paper. Assembling a new office has been a big job, for there are fairly hundreds of small articles which are a necessary part of a printing plant.

The Telephone now has a better and more modern office than before the fire. The best of equipment in every detail was purchased for The Telephone has great faith in the future of Bloomington.

The temporary office of The Telephone is in the Bright building on south Walnut street. The phone number is 46. The office can now handle all work in the same way as before the disastrous fire.
