Ok. I found what I needed.
PARKE County was organized in 1821, and was named in honor of
Benjamin Parke, the first member of Congress from the territory.
Here is how Benjamin Parke, the gentleman for whom Parke Co., IN is
related to the Parke/Parks of Montgomery Co., IN.:
Congressman Benjamin Parke (b. 2 Sep 1777, NJ) > Benjamin Parke (b.
8 Jan 1742/43, Hopewell, Hunterdon Co., NJ) > William Parke ( b. May
1711, Hopewell, Hunterdon Co., NJ) > Roger Parke Jr. (b, 1684,
Burlington Co., West Jersey).
Roger Parke Jr (b. 1684), above, had more children besides William,
one of whom was William's older brother, Joseph Parke (b. 1710,
Burlington Co., NJ), This Joseph had a son named Joseph (b, 1735,
Hopewell, Hunterdon Co., NJ), who had Micajah (b. abt 1760 Ashbury,
Sussex Co., NJ, d. abt 1844, Fountain Co., IN). Micajah married Mary
"Polly" Beemer and they had 13 children, one of was Elijah Parke (b.
1793, PA or NJ, d. 13 Jul 1844, Crawfordsville, Montgomery Co., IN),
who married Eveline Hill. They had 9 children and lived in
Montgomery Co. for many years. They are buried there, as are many of
their children.
If anyone has info different than this, please let me know.
