I am just starting research on Rachael Townsend. I believe she may be the sister of the Ellison you are researching? Rachael was born in Morgan Cnty, IN on 4/8/1829. Her parents, I believe, were William Townsend and Mary Voiles. I saw on a previous message that there were 13 siblings! I only knew of about 6. Rachael Townsend would be my Great-Great Grandmother. She also moved to Andrew County, MO, lived in Nodaway Township for awhile, then in Platt Township. On 6/15/1854 in Andrew County, MO, she married a John Simmons. According to censuses, John Simmons was born in Indiana about 1823. I am stuck with him though. Does your family info tell anything more about Rachael's husband? Rachel and her husband John evidentually moved to Linn, Washington County, Kansas. Rachael died 5/8/1895, and her husband John Simmons died 7/26/1897. Both are burried at Spiers Memorial Cemetery in Linn, KS.

I can tell you more about Rachael and her children if interested, but have less than you going backward. I am looking for any family letters, photos, info on the Townsend family in Morgan County, IN (especially any knowledge of their home, and if it still stands today - I love old houses, and search for any from the family that are still standing today, and have found a few that are quite old!), and info on John Simmons. Do you have any?
