The thing is, the book Mr. Dorrell published listed actual transcribed readings of the tombstones. We were told by the historical society that he used groups of young people to help and I'm sure it was quite a remarkable undertaking. I looked up Grandma Mary's death record and it just states burial: Rising Sun. Her obit says "services at Salem Church and burying grounds" so we checked both Salem & Rising Sun cemeteries. The funeral home has changed hands and the records are not available. Ohio Co is small and there have only been a couple of funeral homes over the years. We can't locate the place of death for grandpa Bassett Corbin so haven't been able to get his death cert. The hunt goes on...
