I am seeking information on the family of John Jessup. John was born in Ohio in 1812 (Hamilton Co. - Cincinnati, I believe) and arrived in Parke County in 1824 (age of 12). Now, did a 12-year-old boy come alone or with some adults? If so, who were these adults--parents, or other relatives?

John died in 1882 on his farm. His obit does not list his place of burial, and he is not buried in the cemetery with either of his two wives, Marietta Burford or Jane Lewis. Marietta is buried in the Miller cemetery and Jane Lewis is buried in Mt. Moriah cemetery.

John and Marietta had nine children and he and Jane Lewis Baker raised one son and her children.

Any information regarding John or his children would be greatly appreciated:

Lydia, John, Eliza Ann, Jane, William, Mary, James, Dudley, and Richard.

According to my records, John and Eliza Ann were both born in 1849 - Eliza Ann in August. Were these children twins or what is the connection?

Jerry M.
