I know what you mean about elusive ancestors. I know my grandfather and my
grandmother were born in Parke County, have no idea where they were married,
Charles Oscar Atkinson and Leta Florence Strickler, and I have found
absolutely no information in Parke County about them.

Have you made it to the IN State Archives? They have canal information and
lots of the original Parke Co books.
