Joan,
Just use the old township map that Eleanor Rayl thoughtfully provided per
the link. See the R numbers and T numbers along the sides? That's Range
and Township. The Sections are blocked out for you. Just find your number
in the correct R and T. Eleanor has described "congressional" townships
for you, which is how the land was surveyed to be sold off. These do not
correspond to townships with names, which are governmental entities that
were set up later.
The map you can get from a Parke County office at the Courthouse is the
platt map, which is available from the Platt office and more costly than
just a single page map. Cost is maybe $12? The souvenir map that shows
covered bridges doesn't show S, T, and R.
