Jennifer,

I suspect you have a descendant of the Huffman family. I know it looks
unlikely; however, I have found Gabriel Huffman (once a state rep for Parke
Co) listed as Huffman, Hougham, and Hoffman. Sometimes his surname is
spelled several ways in the same document.

The Huffmans in Parke County, Adams Twp, were descendants of George Huffman
and Elizabeth ?. Their daughter Barbara Huffman Harshman and their sons
Gabriel and Henry were in Parke County.

Here are a few Huffmans, including one from Fayette County, which may be a
clue for you:

Jonathon Hougham of Fayette Co IN who on Nov 9, 1824 bought the W 1/2 of
the SE 1/4 of S7 T16 N of R8W, 80 acres. This is around West Union in
Reserve Twp.

A William Hougham bought the nw 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of S 18 in T 17 N
R8W. This was 39.73 acres which he bought on Oct 6, 1835.

A Lihua Huffman bought the SE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of S 35 T17N R8W on October
8, 1844. He was from Parke Co, canal certificate #1200.

A Jonathon Hougham bought land in the NW 1/4 of the SW 1/4 of S 33 T17N
R8W, 40 acres on October 28, 1835.

Found in Parke Co book d p 89, a deed from Henry Huffman and Elizabeth....

These are just some stray references about Parke County Huffmans. If you
find you have a connection to my group (Barbara Huffman Harshman is my gggg
grandmother,) let's compare data.
