I am very interested in learning more about your PAYNE family...it looks
quite possible that our families may connect.

I have PAINE/PAYNE family who settled in the 1820's in Racoon Twsp and also
lived later in Otter Creek.

My Alvah PAINE b. 1793/5 MA m. Sarah SEARING b. 1805 Saratoga, NY.
Children...John J. b. 1825, Lucia, Laura Taylor, Marvin, Cortland, Mariah, Calvin and
George Edgar and from recent discovery I believe also Mary Ann and Martha
Jane.

Laura Taylor PAINE b. 1823 is my GGGrandmother she married 1838 Vigo Co. Dr.
John HAMILTON b. 1814b KY/VA. Laura died in 1869 from measles complications
in the area of Rosedale, Parke Co. where they lived. I understand in this area
one side of the road is Parke Co. and the other is Vigo Co. What struck
me was that your PAYNE was named Hamilton in 1873. Dr. HAMILTON married to
Laura PAINE died Nov. 9, 1873 and is buried in Rukes Cem. near Rosedale Parke Co
nest to Laura. Perhaps yor relative is named after him?

I sure would enjoy discussing our PAINE/PAYNE families further.

Kathleen

P. S. I have more biographical material for my PAINE family from a county
history in Laclede, MO where John J. PAINE , son of Alvah PAINE had lived.
