Yes we have corresponded before. It's good to hear from you.
My line descends from Howell's son Thomas. I have been told that Jacob
Baker's daughter Lucretia is Howell's second wife and the mother of Jacob,
July Ann, and Granville.
The 1850 Harrison Co mortality schedule lists Martha Blacketer as having
died March 1850. The Bureau of Land Management site lists Louisa Staggs as
a land buyer in Harrison Co about 1852. I think she is Howell's neighbor
and the widow of Abraham Staggs who is also listed on the 1850 mortality
schedule.
I've been trying to connect Martha and Abraham to the Fielding Staggs'
family in Parke Co IN.
Contact me at and we can catch up. I have new information on
Granville and Nancy Blacketer (Thomas and Fielding's sister.) and a little
bit on Martha. I'm still looking for absolute proof Martha was a Staggs.
Thomas mentions a cousin and brother of his mother as being named Staggs

Anne - I think we have written before. When I was looking at the 1850
census for Harrison, Missouri, Dist 27 and looking at Howell's census, I
noticed that there is a Jacob Baker living next door with a daughter whose
name appears to be Lucreita. Is this the one he married? The date on the
census is the day before he got married. Also, there is a Le?isa
Saggs(first letter is hard to make out) as head of household with children
Nancy, Mary, Sarah, and William on the other side of the Bakers. Could this
have been a Staggs family and written wrong? My great grandfather is Thomas
Harrison Blacketer son of Fielding Blacketer. Susan
