I too become discouraged at times, Just today I visited Elder Cemetery
North of Rockville, That I had spent several days last fall cleaning. ,
just to find someone else had visited and broke 3 stones and knocked over 4
more. Having founded a Cemetery Commision for this county and putting
together the membership, I'll be darned if I'll quit, I may not make a
great deal of difference but I do have some effect, I have worked to hard
to give up.
I think it would be a great loss if anyone on this list quit. It is here
that I became interested in what we do. Maybe a petetion is in order to let
our bureaucrats know what is at stake.
In my lifetime I've lost a great deal of faith in our due process and
public servants but I refuse to just go away without a fight.
I work a regular job 50-60 hours a week and this project takes what little
spare time I have.
I don't do it for glory, I do it because it's the right thing to do.
I have noticed that our local elected officials here are ignorant about the
historical significance of our pioneer cemeteries but with a little
education were receptive to our cause.
