List Members,
I'm seeking information on the Underground Railroad Movement in Pike
County, IN. Families I need info on are POSEY, KINMAN, STUCKEY....
I am sure there were others involved. Looking for descendants of John W.
POSEY who may have heard family stories of his house & coal mine being used
to hide slaves. John STUCKEY was said to have been his right hand man and
helped hide and ferry the slaves across the river to Daviess Co., IN.
Willing to pay for any copies and pictures which would show the house and
these men. The KINMAN family was reported to have owned a hotel in Pike
Co., IN where the pro slavery group hung out and operated from. Does anyone
have any info on this?
I am sure there were many more families involved in the effort both
pro/anti slavery.
I have the copies from the book - Pike County History, Bicentennial Edition.
Meetings are being held every month on the second Wednesday at the Chamber
of Commerce in Petersburg, IN. All who have info or are willing to help
research and record the Freedom Trail through Pike County are welcome to
attend.
