Hi Michael, Why would husbands and wives go to the Soldier's Home? Are the
buildings still there and in use? That is something that the photographs did
not tell me.
So many of the soldiers in the home near us are still suffering from shell
shock. What a sad thing--war--hope we aren't getting ourselves into another
one.

William,
I believe you are right about the Soldiers Hospital probably being the
Indiana Soldiers Home at LaFayette, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. The
following link will take you to a web page about the Indiana Soldiers Home
100 years ago, 1901.
Gives the history of the home and has some very nice vintage photos. There
is a hospital at the home and from the tower you could see Battle Ground,
and Delphi, Indiana. It would have been great to be a twelve year old living
close by and go and spend a day listening to the Vets talk about their
campaigns.
