I don't have any information on Joseph but do have information on his
grandparents, John and Margaret (Steele) Layman. They were married 4 Jan 1831 in
Shelby, Ohio and moved to White county, IN in 1840. They had at least 6 children:
Galin, James M., John S., unnamed, Margaret and Mary. The last 3 died in
infancy. Both John and Margaret are buried in the Clark/Layman Cemetery. I have
