Smolek James J, 93, died Tuesday in Kendallville Nursing Home. He was born in Wis., Sept. 22, 1880, a son of Joseph and Anna Smolek. He was married in San Pierre, Ind. Feb. 1, 1910 to Agnes Minarik. He came to Kendallville 27 years ago from North Judson and was formerly engaged in farming and Smolek & Sons building supplies. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Irene Burgoon, Sacramento, Calif.; 3 sons, Arthur, R. 1, Albion, Richard, Corunna, and Eugene, Kendallville; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Langley, Blue Island, Ill.; one brother, Joseph, North Judson; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, George. Funeral will be Thursday in Immaculate Conception Church. Burial, Christian Chapel Cemetery. + 10-?-1973
