Greetings. My husband has just found out that his Great Grandfather was
Willis DeWitt and through an unexpected contact through a previously
unknown, distant cousin he got the following information. If anyone has any
additional information, we sure would love to hear from you.
Willis DeWitt, born March 1836, Greencastle City [ or township], Putnman
County, Indiana. Do not know the death date.
Married: Marian [?] who was born about 1849 and it is believed to be in
Indiana.
They had the following children:
1. Arminda [Minnie]DeWitt, f. b. about 1864, Indiana, Putnam Co.
2. Eliza A. DeWitt, f. born about 1869, Indiana
3. Ellsworth DeWitt, m., born about 1872, Indiana.
4. Rachel DeWitt, f. born about 1874, Indiana
5. William Walter DEWitt, m. born September 06, 1877,
Indianapolis, Wayne Township, Marion County, Indiana.
6. James DeWitt, m. born about 1880, Indiana.
7. Florence DeWitt, f. born about 1884, Indiana.
8. Birdie DeWitt, f. born about 1886, Indiana.
9. Maggie DeWitt, f. born about 1891, Indiana.
10. Forest E. DeWitt, m. born about 1893, Indiana.
We believe that Ellsworth may also have been born in Indanapolis.
Ellsworth is my husband's Grandfather. He married, Sarah Ellen Myers and
they lived in Indanapolis for may years. Ellsworth died about December
21,1944 and was burried on December 24,1944 in Indanapolis, Indiana. Thank
