While we are on the subject of the old
tombstones, I thought I would add this tidbit on
William Henry Woodall who fought in the Civil
War. It is fro R. Mason in her book on the
Woodalls:

"Their 4th child,
William Henry Woodall
fought in the Civil War and his description
doesn't sound like our other
Wooodalls- 5'7" light hair blue eyes, fair
complexion and beautiful
penmanship-especially the beautiful penmanship!
WIlliam Henry Woodall
enlisted from Greene CO, Indiana in Oct.
1861-this unit was a full
company, the 43rd Regt, Co E and they were in
heavy battles for the
length of the war: Memphis, Fort Pillow, Yazoo
Pass, Little Rock,
Elkin's Ford, Jenkin's Ferry, Damden, Mark Mills.

They lost 200 men when
they were attacked by 6000 of Marmaduke's
Calvary."
