Tim -

There are a couple of projects going on in Indiana right now focusing
on early photographers in Indiana.

My husband's Grandfather - Enos Riley Hiatt (5/17/1861 - 12/25/1935)
had a photo studio in Winchester. And I think he was following in his
uncle's footsteps. (And maybe this is why all our children are so
interested in photography - maybe it's in the genes!)

Here's one link that might get you started on information about your
Indiana photographer:

http://www.ipfw.edu/ipfwhist/indiana/photogra.htm

And here's a nice web site about early Indiana photographers:
http://www.maplewoodfarm.com/photogs.htm

Here's a quote from the second url: Not all photographs were done by
studio photographers. Post card photos were sometimes done by "free
lance" photographers . . .

Good luck,

Karen Hiatt
Rocky River, OH (suburb of Cleveland)
