Hi Jean, My earliest research shows that the Hughbanks, Boatmans, Craigs, and Johnsons traveled from PA to KY by flatboat down the Ohio River circa 1792. After residing in KY for a number of years they removed to IN. From that point, the families remained somewhat together as they then removed to Lexington, IN circa 1820's. My line goes back to Jonathan C. Johnson b: 1792 in KY whose father was John Johnson. It was said that they were of Scottish origin. John Johnson had a brother, Benjamin but do not have much more of that line prior to 1790's. Pat

country. Let's see if we can connect.

>Hi Cindy, Thanks for your email. I believe it was Rosemary Berry of Akron, Ohio who found a written record of that from her Johnson line. Rosemary's father and my grandfather were brothers. My mother was born in 1925 and her cousin, Rosemary Johnson, was born in 1926. If I have my names correct, that "Cousin Rosemary" used to visit my mother in Indianapolis periodically. I had been in contact with Rosemary Berry about 10 years ago but have not heard from her in a long time. I was excited to hear that the Boatmans and Craigs were in Bourbon Co, KY as Rosemary Berry and I both were trying to find where in KY they had resided before removing to Lexington, IN circa 1820. Thanks so much for the info on George Johnson. Yes, this is my line. I need to get down to the Zoah Church to see what other info I can dig up on this Johnson line. I had also been in touch with Jeannie Carlisle Noe of Scottsburg as we appear to have common descendants as well. The Johnsons,
> Craigs, Hughbanks, and Boatmans migrated together for many generations. Actually, there were 5 families and I will have to dig through my research to find the other family. "In the verbal history of the Johnson family -- they were of Scottish origin and traveled with other Scottish families down the Ohio first to KY and then to a bend in the river not far from Lexington, IN. They walked their way to Lexington, IN after leaving their flatboat. I am not sure that the town still exists where they abandoned their flatboat on the Indiana side of the Ohio, but that these families continued to reside near each other throughout the Scottsburg area. It was not until my grandfather, Charles Johnson and his brother Benjamin Johnson left for Indy to work on the Interurban around the early 1900's that the families branched out. Our history shows that these families traveled down the Ohio circa 1792 where my ancestor Jonathan C. Johnson was born in KY. My Johnson line also married

Their oldest children were born there, then they migrated to Scott Co., Indiana sometime before 1820. I have never heard that they came down the Ohio River from PA.....do you mind sharing where you found that information.
