Our annual turkey supper is over (http://1umc.net), so I hope to have a few
more hours for ~inshelby. Barb is covered with shower & wedding festivities
in her family and Melinda is drenched with her college-course assignments.
But we are all still here and happy to read your posts.

Here is a project several of us started last spring:

_Methodism in Shelbyville: 1823-1878_ by George L Curtiss
http://www.rootsweb.com/~inshelby/historical_articles/history_ch_meth.htm
(begins about 1/6 of the way down the page)

Back in April (2002) I announced the beginning of this project. The
remainder of the book and a full name index are now online. The index
begins about half way through this page:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~inshelby/historical_articles/history_ch_meth3.htm

You do not need to have Methodists in your family history to find these
pages interesting and valuable. In Curtiss' own words: "A complete history
of Methodism in Shelbyville would necessarily be a history of the city and
its growth." However, the book also includes information on all Shelby
County communities with Methodist "meetings" (pages 62-74).

Many thanks to Karen Stoll, Anita Gohl, Judith Lucero and Kathy Ridlen for
the many hours spent typing and proofing this history.
