Chuck Huppert contacted me off list and asked: Does the History of Warrick,
Spencer & Perry Counties say anything further as to the property ownership
of Thomas Ellis (i.e., does the History give an indication of where the
taxable property was located)?
For the benefit of others, my answer is:
No, unfortunately the book doesn't tell where the property was. A lot of
what is in the book is what some call a "laundry list"--in other words, just
listing a bunch of names they found on lists. It gives, for instance, names of
people who were Sheriffs, and maybe the dates; people who were Justice of the
Peace, and so forth. It does have some biographies, but not who she was looking
for. I'm figuring that the property for Thomas Ellis was in the part that
later became Spencer Co.
