Does anyone have any information about Saint Paul's German Evangelical in Santa Claus. I have the following information but it only leaves many questions unanswered.
"Deutsch Evangelische St. Paul's Kirche"
Organized by the early settlers of Santa Fe later called Santa Claus Community. The first constitution was written in the German language, was accepted in December of 1854 and properly signed. The organization proceedings were completed in 1855 and the following was recorded in the Spencer County Court House"
Signed by, William Kanzler, John Brinkman and Barthold Bertols.
My question is what happened to the membership books from this church. I spoke with a gentleman that purchased the church but he received no membership information with the purchase. The original church was a log cabin that stood where the theme park in now located. There is a micro film at the Willard Library in Evansville of the church financial records. It is in German and I could read it but would have to drive to Indiana to do so.
Thank you in advance for any help that you may offer.
Jim
