A. Ray Bennett, 71
KNOX – A. Ray Bennett, 71, of Knox, passed away June 18, 1998, at South Bend Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Bennett was born July 29, 1926, in Henry County, Tenn, to Wesley and Avis (Peale) Bennett. On Feb.2, 1947, in Chicago he married Juanita Orn; she survives.
He was a member of the Knox Masonic Lodge and owned Bennett’s Barber shop for 40 years.
Other survivors include two sons, Randall of Bentonsville, Ark., and Corwin of Monterey; one grandchild; one sister, Doris Dunlap of Nashville, Tenn., and three brothers, Thomas and Neal of Chicago and Carl of Minonk, Ill.
Funeral services were held June 22 at the Knox Public Library with the Knox Masonic Lodge as officiating clergy. Cremation also took place June 22 in the Northwest Indiana Cremation Service located at Crown Point.
Memorials may be made to the Knox Masonic Lodge. Braman and Son Memorial Chapel handled the arrangements. [The Leader; Knox,Starke Co., IN; 23 June 1998]
