Am not researching this line, just trying to be helpful. I think this is probably your John Poor. Doesn't seem to move around much prior to moving after the 1880 census. In the following, unless otherwise indicated all people were born in Ind. In the 1850 census for Miami county, Butler township there was a family headed by Henry Poor, 41, farmer, Ohio, included were Margaret, 40, Ky, - Geo, 19, - Nancy, 18, - Elijah, 16, - Henry, 14, - Washington, 13, - Noah, 11, - Margaret, 9, - Isaac, 8, - Archibald, 6, - John, 4, - Mary, 2. In the 1860 census for the same township the family is headed by Henry Poor, 55,farmer, Ohio. Included were Margaret, 55, N.C., - Noah, 23, farmer, - Isaac, 21, farmer, - Margaret, 20, Archie, 18, farmer, - John, 14, - Elizabeth, 13, (New but might be Mary from 1850), - Edmond, 10. The next family in the census is Headed by Henry Poor Jr, 24, farmer. Included were Elizabeth, 22, and Cynthia A, 1. The next family is headed by Washington Poor, !
24, farmer. Included were Martha, 24, Ohio and Sampson, 6/12. The differences in ages from one census to the other can be attributed to the fact that the enumerator only wrote what he was told. Sorry, I don't have an inddex for 1870. Good luck. Don
