Did you ever have an overlooked fact hit you like a sledgehammer?
Well, I just did! I was surfing last night, and found in Culver's History
of Kansas, the biographical sketch on my gr-gr-grandmother, Eunice
HARRIS GUNSAULLULS.
Eunice was born June 3, 1827 in "Nida" New York, and married
Henry B. GUNSAULLUS (born in Richland Co., OH 1825) in Steuben
Co. on May 30, 1847. I have a copy of the marriage certificate and
guess I had never really really looked at it! Naturally I'd checked and
no parents names listed, etc., so filed it carefully away. Last night,
after I found that article in the Kansas pages, got it out again, and
found that Eunice & Henry were married by a C. C. BODLEY! Well,
Charles Clinton BODLEY was Henry's uncle! I'd never connected this!
I've always been one to accumulate information on the siblings of my
direct line and their descendants since I've found that clues pop up in
the most unexpected places, but this one just slipped by - now I'm on
a crusade to find out more about Charles Clinton BODLEY and his
descendants, all from Steuben Co., IN. Charles Clinton BODLEY was
married in Richland Co. OH to Polly M. VAN HOUTEN. They had
5 children, Emily, Philip, Jesse, Mary & Cynthia. I'm interested in
filling out my information on this family, and just maybe somewhere there
I'll uncover the parents/siblings of my Eunice who is my Main "MISSING
LADY"!
Would love to hear from anyone who is researching this family or their
allied families whose names include WOLFE, WILSON, DE WITT, CRIBS,
CONKLIN, GLASGOW, HAVARTER, CALHOUN, RUCKMAN. (Most of
these were in Steuben Co, and few not sure whether Steuben Co. or Whitley
Co, IN.
Thanks for listening!
Willi
