Barb,
In the Cemeteries of Steuben Co., IN, 1990 I found the following"
INGALLS: [Vol. 1, p. 956]
Alice E. (Coleman) 1861-1939, Mrs. Charles A. Ingalls; bur. Pleasant
Lake Cem.
Charles A. 1854-1926 (Alice coleman Ingalls), note: Charles Alfred. b.
3/22/1854
d. 10/16/1926 s/o William R. & Sylvia Rowley Ingalls; bur. Pleasant
Lake Cem.
Effie C. 1861-1885; with William R., Sylvia M. & Lovina Ingalls bur.
Otsego Center
Row 4 St 11
Lovina J. (Thompson) 1840-1896, Mrs. Wm. R. Ingalls; d/o John & Cornelia
Thompson; bur. Otsego Center Row 4 St 11
Sylvia M. (Rowley) 1830-1859, Mrs. William R. Ingalls; Hdst. "Symvia
M."; Otsego
Center, Row 4 St 11
William R. 1827-1901 (Sylvia M. Rowley Ingalls); note: 3/27/1827 d.
1901; s/o Jeremiah & Lance Carpenter Ingalls; Otsego Center Row 4,
St 11
ROWLEY: [Vol. 2, p. 1563]
Rachel (Dustin) d. 1873 ae 74y 10m 17d; Note: On Rachel's monument,
above her name is the name, "Hannah Dustin" in small letters. From
Rachel's funeral card, "Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel rowley aged 75
yrs., will be held at Cong. Ch., 10: 30 o'clock by Rev. E. Andrus, date,
Apr. 5, 1873. Bur. Old Angola Cem., Row L, St 25
Could this be Sylvia's mother? There is no male found buried in Steuben
Co. who would be of comparable age to Rachel.
In the History of NE IN, 1920 there are 2 Rowleys biographies found:
George M. Rowley and James D. Rowley. Under George's data "b.
11/15/1850, Oneida Co., NY s/o Francis A. & Almira A. (Rockwell) Rowley,
both natives of NY State, and a grandson of Abner Rowley, who in the
early days entered a tract of land in Steuben Co., but never came here to
make his permanent home. The land which he took up was a tract of
timber around lake Gage. Its development was left up to his son, Francis
A. Rowley who reached MillgroveTownship in may, 1856." Vol. I, p. 83.
for James D. Rowley, it is stated that he was born in Henry Co., OH in
1845, s/o Thomas & Ellen [Davis] Rowley, his parents both born in County
Antrim, Ireland and after their marriage came to the US. This 2nd one
does not seem to be a candidate for the lineage of Sylvia, perhaps, the
1st one is????
May this be of some help.
