John L. Berkhesier.

John LeRoy Berkheiser, 21475 W. Ireland Rd., died Saturday in St. Joseph's Hospital. He had been ill since Aug. 21 with leukemia. He was born in South Bend May 19, 1927. He lived here all his life for two years when he was in the Army. He was married in South Bend on June 10, 1950, to Beverly Large. He was a truck driver for the Indiana Lumber Co. Surviving besides his widow are two sons, John and Michael, and two daughters, Mary Kaye and Sue Ann, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Luella G. Berkheiser; a brother, Richard E., and a sister, Mrs. Joyce Rankin, all of South Bend. Friends may call at the Orvis Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p. m. Tuesday in the funeral home, Rev. Daniel Thornhill, pastor of the Auten Chapel, officiating. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery.
