Greetings Donna. The lines I'm searching are the Smith's and Rains. I've run on the proverbial brick wall on Alfred M Smith. Although I have quite a bit of information concerning him, I have yet to find his parents. I can come close just looking at the census for Sullivan County but am still not sure.

Alfred M Smith was born about 1825 and lived in Sullivan County all his life. He died in 1864 in Indianapolis as a result of "spotted fever" while in the Union Army. He married Nancy W Rains in Sulivan County and they had a number of children. All of this is documented except for his parents. Luckily, I have found Nancy's parents.

If anyone can help, I would sure appreciate it very much. Don Smith
