There were ferries at Ghent and Warsaw, Kentucky until the mid-1970's, when
a highway bridge was constructed over the Markland Dam. There had been
a ferry in operation at Ghent since the town was founded, perhaps before.
The loss of the ferry cut off the historical ties between Ghent and Vevay.

I have seen newspaper articles giving a history of the ferry at Ghent. I
have copies somewhere. I believe there was a teacher in Vevay who was
gathering information on Ferry history. I don't recall her name.

The only ferries in operation that I know of on the Ohio River is one west
of Cincinnati and one at Augusta, Kentucky. Perhaps there are others.

What is your interest in the local ferries?
