Not too sure about the mother's maiden name being Hall. Our records show
that she was Kesiah or Keziah Truitt. They were married August 7, 1881 in
Warren Co., IN. The birth date you have for Harley matches our records.
The following is from a questionnaire in Samuel Watkins' Civil War pension
application, and his obituary.

SAMUEL WATKINS, OLD SOLDIER, FOUND DEAD
Samuel Watkins, an old soldier about 75 or 80 years of age, was found dead
in an outhouse at the home of T.C. Randolph, on the north river road, about
3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. He had complained about feeling ill, but had
not been confined to his bed; and it is thought that heart disease was the
cause of his death, as he told members of the Randolph family that his heart
had been affected for some time. Mr. Watkins has been spending the summer
with the Randolph family, and went there a few weeks ago to stay for a
while, most of his life had been spent in this county. He leaves two sons,
John, who lives near the Wildcat, and Harlie, who lives on Morehouse gravel
road, and a daughter who lives northwest of the city.
