A SUDDEN DEATH
Fred Gleichman, an Elston Gardener, Found Dead in His Wagon on the Man-Trap Bridge

Patrolman John Roach this afternoon discovered the dead body of Fred Gleichman lying in the bed of his own wagon, which stood on the bridge at Man Trap, just below the junction. The officer found the wagon and the horses standing in the middle of the bridge, further progress having been checked by a collision with a post along the side of the structure. It is not known how long they had been there before the officer was notified of their presence. He found the body of Mr. Gleichman in the wagon, lying between the seat and the front end gate, he having slipped into that position when seized suddenly by an attack of heart disease. The discovery was made at 12:10 this afternoon. Doctors who were called say that heart disease caused the death of the old man. He was returning home from the city when death came.

Mr. Gleichman was seventy years old and has been a gardener near Elston for many years. A wife and several children survive him. The coroner was sent for and he viewed the body this afternoon. The deceased was one of the best known of the German gardeners in this section, and his sudden death will be a great shock to the whole Elston community. Gleichman had been hauling slop for the St. Nicholas hotel and had left there about twenty minutes of eleven. He had been a sufferer from the grip, and this, Dr. Yager says, had a tendency to bring on the heart trouble which caused his death.
