My 2-great grandfather James R.Tichenor, son of Timothy and Rebecca, who married Mary Kindley 2-11-1856,in Tipton Ind.died from smallpox 3-29-1864,in Louisville,Ky.as a member of the 124rth Regiment of The Indiana Volunteers Co D. He mustered in on 3-10-1864 and marched from Indianapolis to Louisville. He is buried in Louisville at The Cave Hill National Cemetery,I have visited his gravesite and have copy from The National Archives of his widow's pension filing. It lists his 2-children.His son Samuel Jackson Tichner is my great grandfather. The pension file also shows Timothy and Rebecca attesting with their mark to the claim of Mary "Kindley"Tichenor as widow and the 2 dependent minor children on 4-9-1864.Rebecca also is shown on Feb 21 1878 attesting to being present when both of her son James's children were born. But I too have had no luck in proving my Tichenor line connection beyond James born abt 1779 in NJ/Del.
