This is the introduction page and the first page of names from the Spencer
Cemetery burials from 1840-present, in Van Buren County, Iowa.

Spencer Cemetery
Cedar Township, Van Buren County, Iowa

This is a large beautifully kept cemetery, on a curve in the road. It is on a
gravel road, 3 miles northeast of Stockport, section 6. There is a large
boulder, with a bronze plaque, explaining how this cemetery was started:

"In memory of Margaret K. Morris, the first to rest in this sacred soil. Born
to Henry and Jane Morris in Harlan County, Kentucky on 17 June 1822, removing
with them to Iowa in 1838. She died in their cabin home on these grounds 21
Sept, 1840."
