I just want to say that even though I haven't found any of MY Irishers
yet in these articles, I love reading them to see how life was like in the
old country almost 100 yrs ago. You can get a flavor of how the country
developed, especially in relation to the Potato Famine and the why,
how, and whens of our ancestors leaving their homes/families. Some of
the stories are so poignant, you want to cry; some make you laugh, esp.
the obituaries of the remaining spouse who passes away and is called
the 'relic'! At first, I didn't understand it, thought was a misprint or just
the quaint way of wording in those days, but it crops up every time.
So... not only do you become a widow/widower when your spouse dies,
you get to be their 'relic' as well! :) What a hoot! Sue in Madison, WI
