IRISH NAMES - In 2002 Jack and Sarah remained the two most popular names
for Irish babies. Jack has now held the top spot for three years and
Sarah for two. The other popular boys' names were Seán, Adam, Conor and
James while for girls the most common were Aoife, Ciara, Emma and Chloe.
HOUSE PRICES - The average price of a new Irish house in 2002 was about
$234,000, and the average price of a new house in Dublin was over $300,000.
BURREN ONLINE - The Burren is undoubtedly the jewel in the crown of the
Irish environment with more than 700 different flowering plants and
ferns growing there. While it represents only 1% of the area of Ireland,
75% of the Irish native species are contained there. Now an online
Burren "interpretative center" has been launched which aims to become
the one-stop information hub for the Burren region. Go to
www.burrenbeo.com <http://www.burrenbeo.com/>.
