Calder celebrates the culture of the Emerald Isle with IrishFest, which
returns to the track on Sunday, June 8. This year's festival features:
Noel Kingston as Master of Ceremonies, spectacular music by Celtic
Bridge, Irish singing legend Tommy Maken, St. Andrew's Pipes & Drums
(above), and Irish dancers. Non-stop Irish song and dance will be the
order of the day, with also plenty to eat and drink, including Guinness
on tap! Also, Irish vendors will sell their products from the Emerald
Isle. For the kids, there will be free Family Day fun. IrishFest
activities run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the horses run throughout the
day, starting at 12:25 p.m.

Second Annual Irish Hurling Exhibition Announced
May 9, 2003 - Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 9,
Montclair and the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh, Essex Chapter announced
today that they will be co-hosting the 2nd Annual Irish Hurling Exhibition
on Sunday, June 8th. Billed as "A Bit of Ireland in West Orange" the day
will consist of a hurling match to be held at the Seton Hall Preparatory
Field, Prospect Avenue, West Orange, followed by a barbecue at the Friendly
Sons of the Shillelagh clubhouse located at 648 Prospect Avenue, West
Orange. Children's activities, Irish vendors, bagpipe bands and
entertainment by Paddy and the Pale Boys will ensure a good time for all
ages.
Hurling is an Irish game resembling both field hockey and lacrosse, played
between 15-player teams. The game is mentioned in Irish manuscripts dating
back to the 13th cent. B.C. It is considered the national pastime of
Ireland.

Shawdow Lawn Stage will present Martin McDonagh's The Beauty Queen of
