Subject: MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE

I have hit a brick wall. All I have is a marriage date of November 28, 1821
in NY for Levi Rice b. 1797 NY and Prudence Powers b. 1803 Vermont. Did NY
have a central place at that time that they recorded Marriages? I have one
census of 1830 in Stueben County after they were married where they lived. But
they weren't married there and Levi wasn't born there. I have checked all the
counties that border Vermont and parts of Vermont that once were NY but haven't
found them. I have checked Probate and Land. Talked to the Stueben County
Historian and except for maybe a marriage certificate I don't know what to do. Any
Ideas? Beth
