Greeting from the peoples republic of Atlanta, Georgia!!!
Representing:
James Edward Dollard 1848-1926, born Kilkenny, Ireland builder of the
McCarthy Building, St. Paul's Catholic Church, the Frear building, the
Caldwell building, the Cannon building and the Hotel Troy and many others.
Got his start on the Erie Canal, then the Barge Canal and then started
paving roads before he built the IDE Collar factory that you can see the
remnants of as you cross over the Hoosick Bridge. Once playfully fought the
Heavyweight Champion of the world in his front yard on ninth st.
Elizabeth "Lizzie" "Brigit" Kiernan Dollard-1851-Died of MI 1936 born Antrim
County, Ireland. As a small child had her picture taken with Abraham Lincoln
shaking hands and the picture remained in the Utica Train Station for the
next 60 years. Very moral and ethical, always had the evening meal ready.
Spent money on many lavish things and gave away houses to people she liked.
She once had a house and farm where the Troy Country Club is today.
Children:
John Edward Dollard 1880- died of MI 1954-Engineer taught at RPI, won an
award for a bridge then went blind from Diabetes. Snappy dresser and ladies
man.
Margaret Dollard-????-1954-Housewife, college grad, lived in the vein of the
money her father had. Married a Mr. Connor's she died of MI 1954
Eugene Anthony Dollard- 1889-1954-Rebelled against his father. Youngest
engineer on the Barge Canal. Spent his formative years at Holy Cross then
set out to be a vagabond and see the world becoming a building contractor
where ever he went, even to the little town where he met my grandmother.
Lived in Charleston During WWII owed a place called the Dew Drop Inn. Died
of MI 1954.
Victor Thomas Dollard 1910-1952-Grad of Notre Dame, self directed, wanted
his fathers company and tore it apart, went to work for the state during the
depression as an architect for prisons and schools. Loved playing cards.
All the Dollards were considered to be men's men a very important
distinction to them. They loved horses, going to Saratoga, drinking and
going home to a hot meal when they got tired. From this family only two
Dollards remain and the Connors family has prospered and done well and are
scattered into the four winds. jd

> Try to keep one surname per Roll Call.
> Put Surname in Subject
> In the body, the minimum information should include:
> Where in Ireland family is from, if known.
> Where in the USA they settled
> Timelines, such as when born
> Who did they marry?
> Children?
