Greetings all,
Found an old article from 1974, story of one Thomas
KELLY of Kings County, Ireland, born 1808, son of a
physician. Immigrated to Montreal, Canada, then to
Galena, IL and finally in 1829 to "The Mines of
Spain", later Dubuque, Iowa. Later he was joined by
his mother, brothers Patrick and William, sister
Elizabeth, and children of his deceased brother
George. Thomas died May 16, 1867. The place where he
lived today is called Kelly's Bluff, behind St.
Raphael's Cathedral.
