Hi List,

Missed out on this discussion last month (death of my FIL). It only just
occurred to me that someone might clear up a mystery (in my mind) about my
paternal grandmother's name.

Her parents were Samuel J. FULTON, first gen. Am., whose parents were from
Belfast, Antrim , Ire. and Nancy (nee HATCH), whose 2nd great grandfather
was James McGOVNEY of Lisburn, Antrim, Ire.

My grandmother's name was "Carletta Grace". I inadvertantly deleted the
reply about "Grace", which it occurred to me later that it might have been
chosen for it's Irish roots more than it's christian meaning.

My biggest mystery is "Carletta". I have yet to discover her name, exactly
as spelled, in any name book. Is this an Irish derivation or what ? Has
anyone any resources that explain the spelling from an Irish naming option
?. It is pronouced just as it is spelled "Car.let' ta".

Her siblings were all girls named Gladys Matilda, Lois Ruth, and Jennie. Do
any of these have Irish roots as well?

Thanks in advance for any info..... Tricia M.
