Registration of life events such as birth, marriage and death were not
officially recorded until the very late 1800s. So if you are
researching before that time, you must rely on other types of records,
such as church records, if they still exist. You can also search the
Federal Censuses and the NY State Censuses. Newburgh is in Orange
County and you might want to search the LDS Family History Library to
see what early records that they have filmed.
