We took a 15 day trip last year and did not use a travel agent. I booked
major hotels in Galway, Killarney and Dublin directly through their online
service. I booked my car rental the same way. I had no problems with any of the
reservations. We got a chip for our cell phone that allowed us to use it locally
in Ireland and still use our US service We made all one night B&B and local
hotel reservations using our cell and a guide book. If we passed a tourist
Center we used their services and advice. This method worked without a hitch
and allowed us the flexibility of adjusting our sightseeing plans as we
traveled.
