Edna, I read your email and noticed the word ENNIS. Now, in your spare time, Check out Susan Shannahan-Shanahan--b 1843-1845 in Ennis. Her mother's name was Bridget and her father 's name starts with a P. I would appreciate this but don't spoil your trip looking for it. I, too, have enjoyed a trip to Ireland and wish I could return. It is such a relazing country. I reallyhope and pray that you are lucky in your endeavors and have an especially good time. Lois

If you haven't already, you should consult Brian Mitchell's Irish Churches and Graveyards (may be at your local library), as it lists them by parish. However, it's not complete. My mother's father came from Kilkeedy and his ancestors are buried in the old graveyard by the Kilmacduagh ruins, just over the Galway line, but it's not listed in Mitchell's. (Technically Church of Ireland, but Catholics were buried there, too.) Similarly, some of my east Galway relatives are buried in an old country graveyard that's not in Mitchell's. So you might use Mitchell's as a starting point and ask the locals when you get there about others.

>Well, 14 November will soon be here, and the daughter and I will be leaving for our 2 week Thanksgiving break in dear old Ireland. I appreciate all the suggestions you folks have made about lodging, and we are pretty much settled, except for the last 3 nights.

I am wondering if someone, possibly Paddy C., could suggest a map showing the RC cemeteries in that area, as well as the ones in Kilkeedy parish. I have noted two in that parish, being Creggaunycahill and Kylecreen. Weather permitting (and I'm sure we'll get damp more than once!), we would like to tramp through some cemeteries and see if we might find some BUTLER grave markers. Any hints or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
