Sullivan, J. C., superintendent of Calvary cemetery, was born in Co.
Tipperary, May 31, 1850. He was engaged in farming in Ireland and came
to Chicago in 1880 and became engaged with contractor P. J. Sexton as
time-keeper, and afterward employed in insurance business. In April,
1872 he married Helen O'Flanagan of Co. Tipperary. They had eight
children: Mary, Helen, Richard, Margaret, Miles, John, Fannie and
Victor.

Tully, Thomas, born in Lower Ornnan (Ormond?), Co. Tipperary on Dec.
22, 1834, the son of Thomas and Julia, nee Runnion. They emigrated to
the U.S. in 1836 and about 1858 came to Chicago where he was engaged
in the grocery business until 1872. In 1872 he entered into business
with his brother, John Tully in making bricks. He married in 1862 Mary
White of Rochester, NY. They had nine children.

Tuohy, Mary, nee McCormick, at 4061 Princeton, wife of the late John,
mother of Ryan and Nellie Tuohy, Mrs. Maggie Flannigan, and sister of
Richard McCormick, aged 70 yrs., native of Cragen, Co. Tipperary.

Wallace, Mary, aged 70 yrs., mother of James, formerly superintendent
of the water pipe extension dept. of this city, also of William, John,
Mary, Hannah and the late Margaret Wallace. She was born in Co.
Tipperary and came to the U.S. when 16 years old. She settled in
Oswego, NY where all of her children were born. Funeral occured from
her resid., 5532 Shields ave. to St. Anne's Church to Mt. Olivet.

Wilson, Anthony, at No. 78 Ruble Street, was accidentally killed at a
railroad crossing on the evening of Feb. 2, 1886. He was 48 years old
and was born at Holycross, Co. Tipperary. He was a member of the
Sacred Heart and Holy Family Temperance associations and also of the
Catholic Order of Forresters, Court No. 3. The funeral occured from
the residence of his sister, Mrs. Ryan on Friday morning to the Sacred
Heart Church, thence to the Northwestern Depot, and thence by cars to
Calvary cemetery. -February 6, 1886

Conway, Walter, at residence 2943 Vernon ave., Tuesday, and for over
thirty years associated with Armour & Co. He was born in 1832 in
Killenaule, Co. Tipperary and came to America when very young,
somewhere around 1851-52 and came directly to Chicago. He leaves a
wife and eight children, one of whom, S. S. Conway, is now the general
superintendent of Armour & Co. at the Stockyards. "Old Watt" as he was
familiarly called by some of his friends, was unique in the respect
that, although being the most conspicuous figure in the stockyards,
and having control of more men and a larger personal following than
any other individual, naturally being the object of the greatest
solicitation at the hands of politicians of all shades, yet he managed
to carry himself so well all around that he never fell out with
anybody and in the hottest times he had a good word and a laugh with
everybody who came around, whether it was Tom Carey at one moment, or
Ald. McInerney, at the next, or the renowned "Buck" McCarthy the
following.

Croak, Mrs. Mary, the beloved wife of Liet. John Croak of the West
Twelfth Street police station, died very unexpectedly last week.
Lieut. Croak while in the perfrmance of his duty was summoned to his
home to find the wife of his early manhood in the agonies of
dissolution. Mrs. Croak was born in 1832 in Killenaule, Co. Tipperary,
and was a scion of the well known McLaughlin family of that parish.
She married Lt. Croak in 1857. She leaves three daughters, Mrs.
Bernard Leiter, Mrs. John E. Mollan and Miss Josie Croak. The funeral
from the family residence, No. 688 W. 12th St. on Sunday last, was one
of the largest which left the city in years, and the funeral sermon by
Rev. Fr. Henebery of St. Pius Church was such as a patriotic Irish
mother deserved. The remains were interred in Calvary cemetery.- July
18, 1885  Her husband, Lieut. Croak was born in Co. Tipperary July 7,
1839, the son of Richard and Johanna Croack, and came to New York in
1850. He was appointed to the police force in 1869.
