Has anyone a COURTNEY in the Pittsburgh area that came from Ireland?
I was told that our Courtney's came from Rathfriland Ireland but that's as
much as I know and wondered if someone can push me in the right direction.
They came to the US in the mid 1860s.
It was a JAMES AND MARGARET COURTNEY with their young son, SAMUEL BELL
COURTNEY....I locate Samuel as a boy...and then a grown man but don't know
what happened inbetween...or what happened to his folks....
I find the middle name BELL showing up in the names of some of Samuel's
children so I think that it is significant - perhaps Margaret's maiden name
or ? I saw the mention of Samuel's Dad (on a death certi I think). as John
Bell..........I'm SOOOOOO confused.
