I was at the SLCLibrary yesterday and met with Sandy Brunsmann, the author of the book

"Early Irish Settlers in St. Louis Missouri" - the book I used for
Christmas lookups. Sandy also teaches Irish Genealogy at Forest Park
Community College. I asked Sandy if her Irish Interest Group is
associated with the St. Louis Genealogical Society because I am a
stickler about people selling information rather than giving it away.
She said she is a member of the SLGS but the Irish Interest group she
leads is not sponsored by the society. She asked me if I would come to
one of her meetings and I said I would. So I thought I would encourage
anyone who can attend, to come to this meeting. Here is the information
on it:

Irish Special Interest Group meets Tuesday, January 21st at the St L CO
Headquarters Library, (Frontenac) 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm, East Room. Agenda:
Naturalization records, Irish Obituaries and an Irish Immigration
Video, success stories on Irish genealogy and time for questions and
discussions.

Sandy told me that her group is using my web page "Irish in St. Louis" for part of their study.
I told her that this list also has a surname list and gave her the web address. I asked her for a copy of
their surname list and she said she will contact the member of her group who has it as an Excel spreadsheet
and have him e-mail it to me. When I get it, I will share it with the rest of the group.

I recently got an e-mail from Joyce Loving, the manager of the Special Collections unit of the
St. Louis County Library. In it, she says: "I just finished indexing some declaration of intentions for circuit court
1853-1903 that have a whole lot of Irish names. We hope to get it loaded on the web soon."
That is good news!

I have been reading a book called "Irish Settlers on the American Frontier" which has a large section about Missouri.
In it, there is a description of the founding of the "Kerry Patch" area of St. Louis. It mentions that the first
"houses" were one room shacks that had thatched roofs! It also mentions that there was another "Kerry Patch" in Sedalia, MO.

I did some lookups from our surname list. I will start a new e-mail and put them there.
