Subject: [IRISH IN ST. LOUIS] Bridget Callahan 1930 census
Date: Sun, 21 Sep 2003 11:06:09 -0400
I am trying to find my mother's aunt Bridget CALLAHAN (nee
Abram/Hebron) on the 1930 census for St. Louis. The closest that I
have come, is to find a Beatrice Callahan whose birth year is estimated
at 1890. Since Bridget was known as "Bee", this may be her. Further
complicating matters is the fact that, with the exception of the 1880
censuses where her age was given as 7 (June 1880) and 8 (November 1880),
she has consistently gotten younger and younger. Along with that, she
was born in England of Irish parents-this from the 1880 censuses. In
the 1900-1920 censuses she has listed Missouri as her birth place.
In 1930 she should be 57-58 year old. The Ancestry index shows 39
years.
The Ancestry image is so blurred that it cannot be read. Does anyone
have access to the other online census image subscription and could do a
look up? Beatrice Callahan appears on reel 1228, ED 282, page 5A. She
should be a widow and her daughter Marguerite should be listed with
her. Marguerite was born September 7, 1900 but who knows how old she
would be passing for.
The 1930 city directory lists a Beatrice Callahan as the widow of Joseph
which is what her husband's name was.
Thank you.
